Shallow Pleats
Have you ever tried on a pair of pleated ready-to-wear pants and thought, "those pleats are much shallower than the ones on my pattern at home?"
Well, you are right.
Manufacturers do this to save fabric (which equals money).
If you find your self running short of fabric when laying out a pants or skirt pattern, consider decreasing the pleats, slightly, if that is all it takes to allow you enough fabric to get the pants cut out.
